Vicar: Revd. Michelle Wang
About The Reverend Michelle Wang
In February 2008, after 17 years of working in China, Michelle, together with their two children, Yulisa and Harry, joined Jeff, her husband, who had come to Australia to study in 2005.
Taking Jeff's advice to improve her English and adapt to the Australian culture, Michelle visited St Paul’s Anglican Church, Caulfield North and was immediately attracted by the love shown to her from the congregation.
Michelle’s English improved and her faith gradually grew. She was baptised and confirmed in November 2008, started her theological study in 2012 and became an ordination candidate in 2016. She was ordained Deacon in February 2019, and completed her studies in 2020 at Ridley College. Whilst she faced many obstacles in her studies, the grace and mercy of God, and the love of His people helped her throughout.
Michelle had originally worked as a CEO for a local Youth League organization in China. Part of her responsibility was organising volunteers and generating resources to make education accessible for young people. Her involvement in education continued in Melbourne, where she worked as an administrative staff member at Wesley College and at John Monash Science School. She also worked at St Paul’s, Caulfield North as a cleaner and the church office administrator.
Michelle is excited to have joined the St David's family. With God's help and the three years of ministry experience at St Andrew’s, Brighton, she hopes, in partnership with His faithful people, to build up an inter-generational and multicultural parish: a church of fellowship, worship, unity, love and prayer.
In her spare time (when there is some!) Michelle enjoys gardening and cooking, photography and swimming.
